MOTOSHIGE · MORTARS & GRATERS

Grate smoothly
with a light touch.

We wanted a grater that works with remarkably little effort.
The answer was a ceramic blade developed over five years.
Easy to grate with and easy to clean, it is a tool made for everyday use.

The sharp edge of broken ceramic, used as a blade.

01 / CERAMIC BLADES

The sharp edge of broken ceramic,
used as a blade.

We sought the sharpness of a freshly broken piece of ceramic. Molding clay could not reproduce that edge. Our solution was to crush solid ceramic and embed the sharp fragments in the grater surface.

We crush the ceramic little by little, sieve it and select pieces of the right size. This careful work, together with a production process developed over five years, makes the blade possible. Each edge grips the ingredient, so it grates smoothly with little force.

Easy to wash after grating.

02 / EASY TO USE AND CLEAN

Easy to wash
after grating.

Food fibers are less likely to catch on the blades, so the grater rinses clean easily. The ceramic surface also resists lingering food odors and staining.

A silicone ring underneath helps it stay in place and helps protect the table from scratches. We considered the whole experience, from grating to cleaning up.
